Three weeks ago something momentous happened – an event that might seem ordinary on the surface, but marks the start of a whole new Yarn Love era.
We broke ground on a custom house + new Yarn Love studio.
Our new digs will not only shelter my family, but also features 2,000 sq feet of dedicated studio space, including a dye kitchen large enough to handle 4 dyers at one time. For the past 11 years, Yarn Love has been operated out of my own home; in small corners carved out 1,400 sq feet for all 6 people in my family, as well as thousands of pounds of yarn. After two years of active planning, architectural design, and lots and lots of budgeting, we’re actually building to allow Yarn Love to expand.
I’m so terribly excited! As we move forward to the completion of the studio, I’m looking forward to offering more yarn via the Yarn Love shop, and reducing our lead time for dyed-to-order and wholesale orders. That means more yarn & faster! For now, I’m doing my best to balance the demands of crafting a new house & studio while dyeing for the busiest yarn season of the year. I’ll keep you posted on the progress as we move forward.
Just to keep us all grounded, after battling huge rainstorms for the past 3 weeks, we have a foundation. It’s humble, and as I type this, there is a foot of water in it, thanks to another 2″ of rain last week. Much like a complicated shawl, this new building will come together one little bit at a time.
