FAQs

When will my yarn ship?

I sell yarn in two ways here at Yarn Love and depending upon the yarn you've purchased, this will affect the processing time:

1.) In-stock - ships in 5-7 business days.  Business days are Monday through Friday, with the exception of national USA holidays. I do occasionally take vacations, and those non-shipping days will be posted on my homepage. A notification will be sent to my email newsletter list. (You can sign up for that at the bottom of this page. Scroll down.)

Please note: due to pockets of high demand, shipping time may occasionally be extended even for in-stock items. An announcement at the top of every page will alert you if shipping times are currently longer than normal. 

2.) Dyed-to-order - usually dyed-to-order items take 4 weeks to process before shipment. You will find the processing time in the listing of these items.

Please note, actual shipment time varies by location and postal service selected. After shipment, you will receive an email with a tracking number, so you can follow your package along it's journey to you. 

3.) Due to Covid-19 postal delivery times have increased. If you select the USPS please note that slow packages must be in the USPS system for a minimum of 4 weeks (within the US) or 12 weeks internationally before they allow a missing package trace or a lost package claim. Essentially, if your package has not met the minimum elapsed time, the USPS does not consider the package late and will not provide any customer care regarding that shipment.

I will initiate a lost package search after 4 weeks & if the search does not result in a delivered package 14 days later, I will happily replace or refund your package. 

For more reliable, timely deliveries please choose UPS  at checkout. 

How much is shipping?

In the USA: 

1.) Orders $70+ ship free to addresses in the USA.

2.) Flat Rate of $6 per package for any order under $70. 

3.) Accelerated options via USPS & UPS available. 

4.) Flat rate & free shipping is via USPS First Class for all packages under 1 lbs. Larger packages will be shipped via USPS Priority or UPS at our discretion. Late / delayed package timing shown on USPS.com apply. 

5.) Sale items do not count towards the free shipping threshold. 

If time is of the essence, please choose an accelerated option at checkout.  

 

Canada & International: 

1.) Standard & accelerated options via USPS, UPS, and DHL are available. 

2.) Due to post-Covid shipping constraints & war-related disruptions, free shipping is no longer available for international destinations. 

3.) Duties charged on packages are the responsibility of the recipient. 

If time is of the essence for your order, please choose UPS or DHL at checkout. USPS packages may not offer international tracking and have no guaranteed delivery time frame. 

 

 

USPS Ground Advantage or Priority mail:

The USPS does not consider any domestic package in their system for less than 4 weeks to be delayed. I suggest signing up for email or text tracking updates via the USPS.com using your package tracking number to receive shipping updates. 

After 4 weeks, I'd be happy to file a missing or lost mail claim on your package. You will need to fill out a short insurance form to complete the mail claim for a missing package. 

When you package has been marked lost or destroyed, we will provide a replacement or shop credit equal to the original purchase amount. 

 

What is a skein? (And what do I do with it?)

Yarn Love is sold in a skein or hank - essentially, a long loop of yarn with many strands that is twisted back onto itself for easy packaging and shipping. This put-up style is integral to the hand dyeing process. Once you receive your skein, you will need to wind it into a ball before it's ready for use.

To prevent tangling, it is SUPER IMPORTANT that you support the inside of the skein while while you wind your yarn into a ball.

To do this, you may use a swift (special equipment for winding a skein into a ball), a chair back (just pop the skein loop over the back, and carefully un-wind from there) or even a friend's arms.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, all listings are for a single skein. You are welcome to add multiple skeins & I will make every effort to fill multiple skein orders from the same dyelot. 

 

Can I get a refund?

I will happily offer you a refund or replacement 60 days of purchase if there is a manufacturing defect. Defects include: more than 2 (per skein): knots, mis-spun or incorrectly plied areas, weak or under-spun areas or another defect which causes you to be unable to use your yarn.

While manufacturing defects are rare, they do occasionally happen and I want you to be delighted with your yarn.

Please email me directly to set up a replacement or refund.

You may also arrange a refund within 30 days of purchase if the yarn doesn't meet your needs. Yarn must be returned in original condition. We are unable to provide refunds for any shipping charges or provide free shipping for these returns.

I am unable to process refunds for:

  • Tangling due to improper winding
  • Color matching issues
  • Dye lot differences
  • Damage from pests or improper storage
  • Sale yarns

Coupons

Unless otherwise stated, coupons are valid for 5 days from issuance, on carts with a minimum of $29. 

Limit of one coupon per order, and one use of coupon per customer. 

Exclusions: single month recurring club subscriptions, pre-orders, custom orders, and sale items are excluded unless explicitly included on a promotion.
